I'm Helen Young, an educational author for Cambridge University Press and Oxford University Press, a Chartered Geographer and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
For over 27 years, I've taught in schools and created educational resources, films and digital content for organisations including the BBC and Microsoft. I also develop place-based learning resources for Exploro and East Staffordshire Borough Council.
I'm now bringing that unique blend of educational expertise and storytelling to visitor attractions across the National Forest through the Ash & Willow series.
Each story is set in a real location and encourages children to explore, discover and engage with the places around them. This results in a unique souvenir of a day out, which helps families to make lasting memories together.

Creating your own Ash & Willow book is a collaborative process.
1. Initial meeting - I'll visit your site to photograph key locations and gather ideas for the story.
2. Story development - I'll write a bespoke adventure featuring Ash and Willow exploring your attraction.
3. Illustration and design - The story is illustrated using your landmarks and points of interest.
4. Approval - I'll send the completed story to you.
5. Printing and delivery - Your finished books are printed and supplied ready for sale in your shop.
